“The Majestic Powers of the Right Brain”

As you know the fact, from the article-["The-2-Brains"] that brain has two sides to it-left side and the right side. The sole purpose of this article is to take you deep into the right side of the brain, describe it’s various functions and some techniques to improve your memory.

In the figure, there are the primary functions of the right side of the brain and these are explained as quickly as follows:

Figure 1: functions of the right side of the brain
1) Interacting with Rhythm:

When you are doing something with a sense of rhythm let it be rapping or even studying or exercising with a certain rhythm then surely, your right brain gets activated.

A memory technique where people learn some unknown words of the vocabulary of any language by singing it in a certain rhythm is based on this first point.

Exercise: Take any nursery rhyme and your technical subject matter, now pick out any list of items from the subject  and sing out loud that list in that rhyme’s rhythm. I am sure you will experience something amazing now J ! Do share with us in the comments below, the results of this exercise.

2)  Music:

Can you remember the face of your friend who use to study by playing a music in the background? And you really don’t get a point in playing any music because you really were taught to learn and study in a silent quite environment?

Well, playing music in background specifically, Mozart’s with a very low volume can actually help you study better because it sets your brain to vibrate at certain rhythm and rhythm is what activates your right brain for learning.. So as an

Exercise: let yourself test to study with a Mozart’s music in the background and see your  results.

3) Seeing Images in the head:

I know a secret about you and that secret is when I would say the word-Orange then certainly an orange would come up as an image in your mind. Exploding images in our minds when a keyword is listened is the function of the right brain too.

So a good memory technique is- while studying the subject matter you have, let yourself see images of the subject matter. This helps in increasing the interest. Seeing images is also called “Visualization” and is also called a “sub-modality” which forms the basis of the field named...
[Neuro-Linguistic-Programming-(NLP)].

4) Imagination and day-dreaming:

In the 3rd point, what you were doing was sort of forced imagination where you were doing it consciously.

But we all know we day-dream and we imagine wildly sometimes walking through the roads of our fantasies, wandering here and there without any specific purpose just like a little kid.

Like in the article- ["The-2-Brains"], Einstein only used to imagine and day-dream under the sunlight and what he took out from that imagination was –[“Theory_of_Relativity”].
So blending your imagination with your logic can really make you a memory wizard. How to do that? How to blend them? Well carefully read the next point…

5) Colour and Dimension:

if you want to enjoy that subject or that book which you are struggling all the time and can’t get a thing from it then I want you to suggest that use    your  favourite  sketch colours to make your notes.

We always use only blue pen or black pen or sometimes pencils to make notes but that is monotonous and anything that is monotonous decreases the memory over the period of time.

So use colour sensibly throughout your study matter and see the magic happening.

Letting your eye to really feel the dimension of some object you see or some human you see is the also the function of the right brain.

In the same way, Recognition of patterns, maps or faces, parallel processing, and seeing the whole image of the subject matter are some of the other key functions.

You may be thinking, I am a logical person, I do lot of maths, lot of analysis and criticism of what I read, well then which part of my brain is doing all that? Here you go- to the article [“Left-Brains-Power-Logic”] to really meet the smart logical you.

One after the another, you are given memory techniques in this article, as you do them, do let us know about your results and for any query, ask us in the comments below.
